Outlet Grading Scale

How we classify outlet items

Based on the entity of the damage, we have defined the following classification tiers and discounts for the items sold in the outlet section:

  1. [UNSEALED] (15% off): Near mint book that has just been opened
  2. [DAMAGED: Minor] (20% off): Tiny corner ding, light scratch or small tear(s)
  3. [DAMAGED: Moderate] (30% off): Visible corner dent(s), bend(s) or tear(s)
  4. [DAMAGED: Severe] (40% off): Significant damage (deep dent(s), bent pages/cover)

Since we might have multiple damaged copies of the same title (in the same tier or in multiple tiers), we can't provide specific picture(s) of the item damage on nerdbeast.eu, so you'll see the regular cover image with an overlay tag reporting the damage tier and that will be also reported in the "Condition" section in the product details.

That being said, for the sake of complete transparency and respect toward our customers, here are some example of what you might get by purchasing items from the outlet.

Actual examples

BEAR IN MIND:  light, zoom and angle of the taken picture might significantly change the perception of the actual defect (for the better or for the worse) and by looking at the actual physical copy in person it would be slightly different for sure. We have tried our best to show the defects as they appear in the real word, but take these shots as a generic reference.

[DAMAGED: Minor] (20% off) - this book is basically NM and has only a bend in the back corner (this could be fixed or at least improved by pressing the cover)

[DAMAGED: Moderate] (30% off) - this book has a noticeable dent in the bottom corner (however the rest of the book is pristine and once on the shelf you won't notice anything because the spine is perfect)

[DAMAGED: Severe] (40% off) - this book has been severely bent (however once again this could be fixed/improved by pressing the book)
